Well, I showed my handwarmers off at work on last Friday and one of my co-workers asked me to make her a pair. She wanted a red pair. I went to my favorite yarn store, Michael's this weekend and found some wonderful red wool. If feels soooo good. I even bought some black because a dear friend, Cheryl George, wants a black and red pair. I found some wonderful hand made buttons at JoAnn Fabric to decorate the handwarmers. I am really pleased how these came out. To the right and below are the results.
The buttons on these handwarmers are little hand made hats.
You can really see the little hats in this picture. I like the addition of the buttons. I think it adds a nice touch. The black and red handwarmers are going to have black and red ladybugs on them. I can't wait to make them.
Well here is the shawl that a lovely lady named Kim Form commissioned me to make for her. I call it "The Kim". Here is Kim modeling the shawl. I delivered it to her today.
She wanted a shawl that she could wear to church and with jeans. She is really going to "work" this shawl. I am really pleased how it came out and I was so happy that she was excited and happy when she saw it. I made the shawl out of black fun fur.
I tell you it is a wonderful feeling when people love the work that you do. For me knitting is a labor of love and a gift from God. Knitting has really helped me to heal these last few months. "God is so good to me, God is so good to me. I don't serve him as I should, I don't deserve all of his good. So many things are not as they should be, but God is so good to me." Here is the complete song by Donald Vail and the Celebration Delegation, My Rhapsody Playlist
Here is the back of the shawl. I custom made the shawl to Kim's height and size. She looks fantastic in her new shawl!

Handwarmer's Anyone?
I have discovered handwarmers. When I describe them to people they look puzzled. However, there are many times when you need your hands covered, but you want your fingers free to pick up things, turn knobs in the car, ride a bike, etc. It may be cold enough to cover your hands, but not cold enough to wear gloves, thus Handwarmers. Below is a sample of my latest handwarmers.
I made these with two different typles of yarn, white and a black and white yarn that I had left from a scarf set that I made for my sister-in-law last year. When I found this pattern I couldn't wait to make them. After I made them I wanted to add something more to "Kick them up a notch" as my favorite chef Emeril would say.
The picture below shows a close-up of the Zebras that I put on the handwarmers.
I really enjoyed making these. I am finishing up a black pair for my mother that I will post tomorrow. I also have an order for a red pair that I found some wonderful little hats that I am going to put on them. I am also going to make a red and black pair for a dear friend and I found some great red and black ladybugs that I am going to put on them. As I make the handwarmers I am going to post them on my blog so stay tuned. If you are interested in some handwarmers feel free to email me at cynthiaknits@hotmail.com.

More Shawls
This is one of the first shawls that I ever made. I love red, it is my favorite color. This shawl is made with fun fur.
As you can see on the back I have weaved in some gold shells for an added touch. I can create this shawl in various colors. I also added some of these shells to the shoulder.
This is another one of my earlier shawls. I used two types of fur yarn a cream color and a white color. It really makes the shawl heavy and thick. The color is wonderful.
This is the back of the shawl.
I made this shawl with black, grey and white fun fur and solid white yarn. I love how it turned out because I used the double knit stitch.
This is the back of the shawl. You can really see the double knit stich effect.
Any of these shawls can be made in a wide variety of colors. I usually make my shawls with two yarns together. This makes them thick and it gives them an unusual shade. I recently made a shawl with chocolate brown yarn and orange fun fur. It turned out terrific. Before I got an opportunity to take a picture of it a lady bought it today. I plan to make another one.

My Latest Creations
Here I have finally taken pictures of my latest creations.
This is a Poncho that I recently made. I used the Trellis yarn/ribbon that I found at Michael's. It was very easy to make. When I first started I wondered how this was going to fit. However after I sewed the shoulders and started putting on the fringe it really came together.
This poncho really looks good with black. For summer it also looks good with a blue silk sleaveless top and a white pair of pants. The possibilities are endless with this top, especially for evening wear.
A while back I wanted a shawl to go with jeans. I love to wear jeans on the weekend, especially after wearing suits to work all week. Here is my weekend shawl. When I started knitting this I couldn't stop so I got the great long points that I could throw over the shoulders.
A lady, Bonita, saw this shall and asked me to make it for her so I did. I customized it to her height and size. I was so proud to create it for her.

Cynthia Knits, October 19, 2006
I love to knit, it is a passion! I started knitting two years ago after a 20 year hiatus. My Aunt Elsie taught me to knit and crochet when my family and I came to Virginia to visit my mother's sisters every other year. She was so patient with me. When I would drop a stitch she would gently guide my hand and tell me what I did wrong. I will never forget those moments.
Now 20 plus years later I am knitting again Aunt Elsie. Everytime I start a new project I get excited. My favorite places to buy yarn are Michael's and Ben Franklin. Knitting helps me relax. Everytime I sit down I pick up my knitting.
On this blog I want to show my latest projects to those who are interested. I am also going to provide links to different pattern sites and yarn sites.
I hope you will visit often to see what I have done.
