Trunk Show in Roanoke, Virginia

Well, I had my first Trunk Show at "Beads Indeed" in Roanoke, Virginia. The show was a success! I want to personally thank the owner, Alyce Szathmary and her staff, for being so gracious to me. I also want to thank all of the people of Roanoke who came in and gave me encouragement and kind words.

The following are pictures from the show. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed being there. I look forward to visiting again soon.

This is the front of the store.

This is the inside of the store and one of the counters were I displayed my items.

The next few pictures are the displays of my items. I am very proud of what I have created. These are some of my scares, loopy scarves, bags and hats.

New Designs

Well I have really been busy knitting. I finished two sweaters and several bags and scarves for my Trunk Show in Roanoke, VA.

Below you will see my latest sweaters. The first one I call "Autumn Leaves". I was inspired by the beautiful colors of fall here in Virginia this year. I think this is the most beautiful fall ever. Often times we do not take the time to appreciate God's beauty. He is the ultimate artist. I hope you enjoy my latest creations.

Here is the back of the sweater.

I also finished a green, blue and brown sweater. The following is a front view:

All of these jackets were made with Homespun Yarn. I love using Homespun. It knits up very well. I also used the Speed Stix knitting needles to create these two sweaters.

New Music I Just Discovered! Updated 9-29-07

Well, I was reading the Parade Magazine in the Richmond Times Dispatch and read about a new Country Music singer named Rissi Palmer. I went out to iTunes and listened to her latest song "County Girl". This girl is FANTASTIC! I downloaded her latest songs and I found her video on YouTube. You will definitely be hearing this young lady in the days to come. I'm not a "Country Girl", but she sure makes me want to be. Enjoy!

I love The Commodores, here is "Sail On".

And here is "Three Times A Lady".

Remember "Clean Rap"? Well here is The Sugar Hill Gang with "Rappers Delight".

Otis Redding was one of the best soul singers of century. Here is my tribute to him with these next few songs. Lets start with "Dock of The Bay".

"I've Been Loving You Too Long To Stop Now".

"These Arms Of Mine". One of the best romantic songs of all time.

Well, I keep finding more music and as I do I will keep adding to it. Here is one of my favorite artists, Nora Jones, with a live version of "I Don't Know Why I Didn't Call".

Here is another favorite by Nora, "Come Away With Me Tonight".

Bonnie Raitt is another one of my favorites. I really need to be in a mood to listen to her because her music can make me sad because it speaks to me. Here are a few of my favorites beginning with "Opening Farwell".

Here is another one of my favorites, "I Can't Make You Love Me".

I love Country Music. To me it is like the Blues because it tells a story. One of my favorite country groups is Big and Rich. This song "Holy Water" is absolutely beautiful.

While I was surfing for a knitting stitch I ran across the MySpace site that had this video by Alison Hinds. I like the video because it reminds me of Trinidad. I hope you enjoy it.

"Roll It"

Add to My Profile More Videos

Now I have just discovered that I can embed my favorite videos in my blog. Wow, I love it. Now you know I had to add one of my all time favorites, Marc Anthony's "You Sang To Me". This song is my inspiration when I work out at the "Y".

Well, I am still surfing for my favorite videos and have one of my workout favorites. Here is an oldie but a goodie. Heavy D and The Boy's "Now That We Found Love What Are We Going To Do With It".

Well, I am still surfing and have found my all time favorite Jazz artist, Earl Klugh. He plays a beautiful and haunting jazz guitar. He here he is with another favorite, Chet Atkins, with "Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues". Enjoy.

I could not end this page with adding Carlos Santana and "Maria, Maria".

Another favorite. Maroon 5, "She Will Be Loved", my ringtone for my hubbie. (smile)

Well I discovered another video by a young man named Mario. The song is "You Should Let Me Love You".

Enjoy!

Another favorite by Mario, "How Do I Breath". This is a gifted young man.

New Creations

Well I am BACK!!! I have been knitting a lot for the last several weeks and I am just now posting my creations. I am very excited about what I have done. I hope that you enjoy looking at them as much as I have enjoyed making them.

I also created some "Ribbon Scarfs". I am really excited about them because it is a new stitch I have never done. You can wear it in different ways, either straight down or tied so that it looks like a collar with a suit.

I am knitting my heart out because I have a Trunk Show coming up on Saturday, October 27, 2007 in Roanoke, VA at Beads Indeed. I am very excited about this. I met the owner last year while I was at a conference. She saw the purse that I was carrying and said that she would be interested in me doing a show. We have stayed in contact and she asked me to come this fall and showcase my purses and scarfs. So for right now I am knitting my little fingers off. I want to create 20 pieces and be able to take orders for those that I may have sold and that people still want. I praise God daily for the gift that he has given me and that he has enabled me to share my talent with others.

Well here goes, ENJOY!

This is a Black and White Shawl that I made out of Fun Fur. It has a wonderful feel and is beautiful on. I have included two views, one draped on a chair and a model wearing the shawl.

The next shawl that I made I call "In The Forest". I fell in love with the yarn and when I started knitting it I just could not stop. This is a large rectangle shawl with fringe on it. I put gold beads at the end of the fringe. It feels so good on. You feel as if you are shrouded in love.

The next shawl I made was Red and White. It is made with two yarns, a red yarn and white fun fur.

Now, I am focusing on purses and scarfs. I just finished a black and white purse made with with black wool and white homespun yarn. This really made a wonderful combination. I added a flap to the purse that includes black fun fur. The purse is fully lined with black and white fabric and is reinforced to have firm sides.

I plan to make a whole array of purses of different styles and colors. I plan to let my mind run wild with possibilities.
Last, but certainly not least are my scarfs. These are my "signature scarfs", the "Ribbon Scarfs". I call them my "Ribbon In The Sky". It was a real challenge to master this stitch, but I am proud to say that I did it with God's help. These scarfs are made from a yarn called "Lucky" that I purchased from a shop called Lettuce Knit here in Richmond. I went to shop to look for some unusual yarn, which they are famous for. When I saw a sample of this scarf I feel in LOVE with it. When I asked one of the owners how it was done, she was gracious enough to sit down and teach me right then and there. For that, I will be eternally grateful. When I finished my first one, I looked everywhere in my stash of yarn for ribbon yarn and I found some "Rainbow" colored yarn that I had. Wow, when I finished it I couldn't believe how beautiful it turned on. Well enough of talking about it. Here they are .....

As I said earlier because of the length of the scarf, about 36 inches, you can wear this scarf many different ways. You can wear it just draped around the neck or you can double it and wear it as a collar with a suit. It really looks good with a sleeveless top and a suit. Or you can wear it with a top and a pair of slacks.
Always remember if you like any of these items please feel free to contact me and I will give you a price.

I'm Still Here And Knitting

Well it has been a while since I have posted anything, but I am still knitting. Summer is here and I have been doing a lot of different things. I am finishing a beautiful red and white shawl. Several months ago I finished a beautiful green shawl with beaded tassels. I guess you say, "she calls all of her shawls beautiful", but they are and I am really excited and inspired by them.

I made a prayer shawl for a dear friend of mine who has breast cancer. With each stitch I said a prayer. When I gave it to her she was thrilled and said that it gives her much comfort. I was so happy.

I am also into making beaded watches of late and I have really been having fun with those. I am going to post the pictures to my blog shortly.

Please stay tuned and continue to check back.

I'm Back With Purses and Shawls and Shrugs, OH MY

Well I am back. I have done a lot of knitting since my last post. I made a beautiful turquoise shawl that I finished in Roanoke, Va while I was at a conference. I also just finished a shrug which I am very proud of. I must admit it may be one of my masterpieces. In addition, I created a pattern for a new purse that I made for spring that has a flap.
Here we go. This is the shawl that I finished in Roanoke. I call it the Roanoke Rumba.

The next piece that I made was a brown felted purse. I have it in a boutique here in Petersburg, Virginia in Old Towne Petersburg called The Pink Scottie. The shop carries my designs.
The purse is made of brown wool with fun fur. It features dark brown bambo handles. It is fully lined.

This picture shows the lining in the bag.

This next purse is another one of my designs. The owner of The Pink Scottie wanted a purse that had more spring and summer colors. This felted purse is made with white wool, pink green and light beige Soya Yarn. It also includes pink, green and blue fun fur. It has a flap made with fun fur and Soya yarn.

This is the inside of the purse which is fully lined.

This is the back of the purse.

Finally, here is my shrug. It is made with the Lions Brand black Homespun yarn. The fringe is made of fushia, multi color beige and black Homespun yarn. This shrug can be warn a number of different ways, however I like wearing it criss-crossed in the back and creating a cowl neck in the front. I am still trying to think of a wonderful name for this piece. Do you have a suggestion? Feel free to email me.

I am now working on a purple shrug with beige purple and fushia fringe. As soon as I finish it I will post it as well.
If you are interested in purchasing any of these pieces or if you want a custom piece please feel free to email me.

Felted and Knit and Bags "Oh My"

Well this is one of the reasons why I have not posted lately. I have been knitting felted bags. Once I started felting, I just couldn't stop. This is the neatest thing, to knit a bag felt it and see the results.

This is my latest bag, I finished it a week ago. I call it "Black and Sassy". I am very pleased with it because it is my very own creation. It is made with the Patons Black Wool and the Black, Brown and White Fun Fur with the little fuzzy balls. I inserted a rectangle heavy plastic netting to make a hard bottom to the bag. I also lined the bag with gold and black zebra fabric. The handles I purchased from JoAnn Fabrics.

Here is the bag!

Here is what the lining looks like in the bag.

This is my first bag. I call it "An AKA Kind Of Bag". When I knitted this bag it was HUGE! I was wondering what it was going to look like felted. I really held my breath as I put it in the washer. Well, when I took it out and blocked it I was thrilled. Creating the handles was fascinating. I used Pink and Green Patons wool yarn. I really like Patons yarn it really felts up well.

This is the second bag that I made. I got the pattern from Ben Franklin and it was inspired by their Christmas bag. I call this bag "The Red Baroness".

The next purse is another one of my creations. After I made "The Red Baroness" I wanted a flap on my bag. So I made the next bag. I call it "Pink Passions". I made it out of Pink Patons and Multi Color Patons yarn. I used a really fun button of multi colored stones to accent the flap.

Here is the bag, Enjoy!

The next purse I am working on incorporates knitting with the new faux leather. I am going to start on it this afternoon. I am going to make it out of black yarn and the black multi color Trellis yarn that I used to make the poncho that is on this site. As soon as I am finished I will post it.
Until then, Stay Tuned, Here and Above!

New Shawls

Well I am finally back! I have been so busy with work and knitting that I haven't had time to post anything. I have been working on some wonderful purses. I am going to take pictures and post those this afternoon.

I miss not sharing my creations. You know, I even get ideas in my sleep. Well here are my latest shawls. This is my "Hot Momma Pink Shawl" and "Hat". I made it as a Christmas present for one of my clients.

This is the hat that I made to go with it.

Then "Green and Yellow Shawl" was made as a Christmas present for my dear friend Cheryl. Her favorite color is yellow so I created this shawl for her out of Yellow yarn and the Yellow and Green Fun Fur with the little balls in it. I am very proud of this one. It seems like every one I make for someone I want for myself. They say that the greatest gift is to give someone something that you want yourself and I believe that.

This is the front of the shawl.

This is the back of the shawl.

I wanted to create a Soft Pink and Brown shawl for myself that had a little flair to it. I added some Pink and Brown beaded tassels to this shawl for effect. I hope you like it. This is one of my midnight inspirations.

This is the back of the shawl. By the by, I made the Turquoise and Coral necklace that I am wearing. That was my jewelry design phase. I will have to create a blog that shows my jewelry.

On the shawl I put some beaded tassels to add a little flair for my shawl. This is a closeup of the beaded tassels.

This shawl was made with Brown yarn and Light Pink Fun Fur. It looks great with a Brown suite and a light Pink blouse.

This last shawl is one of my greatest creations. I call it "The Golden Fleece". You know like from Greek Mythology, Jason and the Golden Fleece. I have a client that wanted me to make a Beige shawl for her sister that had Gold in it. She wanted this for a Christmas present this year. She also wanted me to make one for herself. Well, I was up to the challenge and went to my favorite yarrn store, Ben Franklin. I found this wonderful Beige Fun Fur and the for the other yarn I used this wonderful Pantons Brilliant Beige yarn. This has the gold strans running through the yarn. It is absolutely beautiful and wonderful to knit with.

Here is the front of the shawl.

This is the back of the shawl.

This is a close-up of what the knit looks like.
